Sonachan House is a large magnificent Victorian mansion set in a waterside location of approximately 5 acres of tranquil grounds on the southern shores of Loch Awe in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Portsonachan is the perfect choice for those who appreciate a more relaxed pace of life. The area itself is an excellent base for touring this beautiful part of Argyll.

The mansion has been tastefully divided into private self catering holiday apartments, whilst 4 cedar lochside lodges are situated throughout the grounds overlooking the Loch Awe. All our accommodation enjoys glorious views of the Loch to the mountains beyond.

Loch Awe is famous for its record brown trout and provides first class fishing which is free from the shore in front of the lodges. Guests are welcome to bring their own boat or hire one locally.

There are many recreational amenities available within the area - boat fishing for trout and salmon (permits available locally), golf, walking, horse riding, cycling and birdwatching are all popular.

It is also an excellent base for exploring the West Highlands and its many gardens, castles and distilleries.

Trips to picturesque Inveraray, Fort William and historic Glencoe are recommended. Whilst the town of Oban is just a 35 minute drive away - from here you can take a ferry to explore numerous islands.

Local bars and facilities are within a few minutes drive.
